Company Information

APEM was established in 1952 as a manufacturer of professional and industrial switches in France. After enjoying years of solid growth, APEM opened a second plant for the manufacture of professional miniature switches in 1971.

APEM's continuing growth and prosperity attracted the attention of MORS, a diverse French conglomerate that began in the early 1900's and became a leader in numerous high technology industries. In 1982, MORS acquired APEM. Under MORS, APEM added membrane switches and multifunction keyboards to their broad switch offerings in 1984. Also under MORS, APEM acquired American Switch Corp. of Wakefield, MA in 1991 to assert a solid presence in the North American market. American Switch Corp. had established a reputation for high quality engineered and manufactured switches and served the U.S. market for 20 years.

In 1996 MORS spun off their successful switch division as a new company on the French Stock Exchange under their prior successful name, APEM. In 1999, APEM acquired Qwertec SA in France, a company specializing in large volume telephone keyboards for many fortune 500 companies. In 2000, APEM acquired UNIFAB, INC. of Hampstead, NH to complement their membrane and keyboard offerings with a manufacturing capability in the U.S.. UNIFAB had met the demanding requirements of customers in the electronic, computer and medical industries in the U.S. for over 19 years.

In 2001, APEM purchased and moved to a new and modern U.S. headquarters facility in Haverhill, MA to meet the needs of their continuing rapid expansion and growth. APEM also acquired a new plant in Queretaro, Mexico for their large scale switch manufacturing, to provide the highest quality switch products at the most competitive prices obtainable.

Today, APEM is the best known switch brand on the European switch market and ranks third worldwide. APEM is currently undergoing rapid expansion in the U.S. and is dedicated to meeting and exceeding your quality switching needs.
