Low-Profile Terminal Block Connects Aluminum Wire to Appliances & HVAC Equipment
HARRISBURG, PA., March 17, 2004 - Tyco Electronics, a business segment of Tyco International Ltd., recently announced the availability of a new aluminum wire rated 65 amp low-profile power terminal block. This product is used on consumer appliances, commercial refrigeration units and HVAC equipment to serve as the connection point of the device power wiring and the incoming service wire or power wiring. The low-profile power terminal block accepts up to six #10 ring tongues on the device side of the connector and accepts aluminum wire, copper wire, or 1/4" ring tongue terminal on the field wiring side. The tin-plated aluminum terminal block is qualified for use with aluminum wire from 4 to 8 AWG or copper wire from 6 to 10 AWG. The product is also suitable for light industrial use.
The housing is molded from UL-94V0 rated thermoplastic and is available with or without an integral ground strap. Each power terminal can carry the full 65A rated current at 300 VAC. Operating temperature range for this product is -30 to 90 degrees C with the contacts fully energized.
The product carries UL and ULc component recognition per UL 486E and UL 1059 and is designed to conform to the latest UL 858 requirements for household electric ranges.
