Company Information
Cramer:
Product Development..Quality.. Customer Service
For over 70 years Cramer's design engineers have been among the industry's leaders in the development of electric timing and motors and related timing devices. This pioneering energy led directly to the development of today's revolutionary Model 6100 Hysteresis Motor and is supported by an ongoing preoccupation with quality control on the part of Cramer's "hands-on" management group. Today Cramer is just as dedicated to maintaining the performance level of its standard motor and timers as it is in breaking new ground in the pursuit of new and innovative instrumentation. Above all, Cramer is dedicated to doing everything to help you choose the right Cramer motor for the job.
Cramer: How it all began - And who we are today
The Cramer Company was originally founded by Robert W. Cramers in 1922 to perform as the United States sales representative of a leading Swiss manufacturer of spring-powered timers.
By the early 1930's Cramer had commenced development of its own line of timers. And Robert Cramer was among the first in a new and burgeoning industry to recognize the importance of the advent of alternating current and the consequent feasibility of precise recording of time by electromechanical timing devices. By 1935 the company had introduced a series of precision synchronous AC-motor-driven timing systems, forerunners to day's cycle, interval and delay timer.
In 1939 R.W. Cramer & Company Inc. moved its operation to Centerbrook, Connecticut and with the onset of World War II shifted its activities entirely to the production of critically needed military timing systems. By 1947 Cramer had expanded into the manufacture of its own line of synchronous timing motors, perhaps the most important element in the development of effective timing devices , and was ready to redirect its efforts to peacetime production of its now comprehensive line of motors and timer. Between 1947 and today Cramer has continued to grow in manufacturing capability, sales volume and reputation as one of the leading innovators and manufacturers of sub fractional motors and reliable timing systems. In recent years Cramer's most significant achievement has been it refinement of the hysteresis motor design. Cramer's really work on the development of the synchronous motor as the key to more and more effective timing devices led the company's design
