What We Do
American Electronic Components designs and manufactures a broad range of specialized electrical and electronic components, including highly engineered custom sensors, high-performance industrial relays and switches, as well as other electromechanical products. For over 65 years, AEC has served automotive and industrial (under the DURAKOOL Brand) companies, developing a strong tradition of technical innovation, agility, rapid response and high reliability.

AEC has earned a reputation as a designer and manufacturer of highly reliable electronic sensing solutions. In addition to our industrial switch and relay business, we have developed a wide array of speed and position sensors primarily for automotive, heavy truck and off-highway applications. Our extensive experience with harsh environmental packaging concepts, creative engineering and high-quality products has positioned us to support your most challenging applications.

Products
AEC is widely known as a creative supplier of "black box" design solutions. Beginning with the successful development of a zero-speed, power-up recognition Hall effect sensor, AEC has created electronic sensors for engine timing, throttle position, geartooth rotation, transmission speed and position, ride control, 4-wheel drive speed, ABS wheel speed, on-board diagnostics and similar applications. AEC's non-contacting rotary position sensor technology replaces conventional wiper contact, resistor-based rotary position sensors where fluids, vibration and contact wear cause premature failures and contact noise problems.

Technology
AEC has developed a culture that encourages practical innovation in core competencies of magnetics, sealing, packaging and electronic design. Magnetic transducers and hermetically sealed switch technologies are configured into sensors suitable for the most rigorous automotive environments, where speed, timing, rotation, position or inertia must be monitored. AEC's sensors are developed using multiple technologies dependent upon application specifics: Hall effect Integrated Circuits (ICs), Magneto Resistance elements (MR), Variable Reluctance magnetic pick-ups (VR), and also hermetically sealed switches.
