RoHS and WEEE Environmental Compliance

BROOKLYN PARK, MN - The E-Switch organization continually seeks to develop quality switch products that meet the latest in environmental standards.

At the moment, the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic) directives call for the elimination of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electronic components and switches for most industry uses by July, 2006.

Today E-Switch is working to verify the complete elimination of non-compliant materials from our switches and assemblies, per the RoHS and WEEE directives. Our goal is to confirm full compliance with RoHS and WEEE regulations by early 2005. Our team of E-Switch manufacturing and QC engineers is actively documenting all of our products to meet these standards.

But most importantly, we are already compliant with the RoHS and WEEE directives with most of our switches today. A vast majority of our switches are made with silver or gold plated switch contacts and terminations. What does this mean for you? You can now design in many E-Switch products that meet RoHS and WEEE environmental standards with out fear of material non-conformance.

And that's not all , the new lead free standards will elevate the actual solder- process temperature profile, due to the new, non-leaded solder paste. Nevertheless, process temperature of up to 250C for a limited time, will not affect our switches. Again this means that you can currently design in an E-Switch product that will meet the new process temperatures profiles, based on the environmental regulations.
