E-T-A Introduces a Modular Power Distribution System

Compact rack-mount system handles 125 A per channel

Chicago, IL – May 30, 2006 – E-T-A Circuit Breakers announces the X8345-D01 Power Distribution System. This space-saving 2U-height (3.5”) rail system is designed for mounting 8345 plug-in hot-swap circuit breakers either in 19", 21" and ETSI racks. The unit’s ease of connection, even in difficult-to-access locations, reduces maintenance and service costs while providing easy retrofit capability. The modular design of the X8345-D01 allows E-T-A to create a customized and economic power distribution system solution to meet any customer’s needs.

When populated with E-T-A’s 8345 magnetic circuit breakers, the X8345-D01 has a total load capacity of 600A with a maximum of 125A per channel – each offering group signalization. Systems can be extended or re-configured without powering down as X8345 circuit breakers are hot-swappable. Live parts in the plug-in area of the load terminals are protected against brush contact to IP20.

Specifications
E-T-A’s 8345 magnetic circuit breakers are rated up to 277 VAC or 110 VDC and handle from 0.05A to 125A. The 125A maximum rating is 25A higher than the industry norm, allowing designers to increase power output without consuming valuable rack space. They are approved to UL489, UL1077 and EN 60934, requiring the circuit breaker to be fit for further use after interrupting a short circuit at the maximum specified fault rating - giving the X8345-D01 an extra measure of protection for expensive electrical equipment while reducing costly downtime caused by power interruption. The maximum load for a complete X8345-D01 Power Distribution System is 600A.

Applications
The modular design of the X8345-D01 Power Distribution System allows customer-specific and economic configurations in telecommunications industries, for power supplies, switchgear, instrumentation and process control applications. It facilitates rapid start-up and re-configuration of complex systems without downtime, making the system ideal for hot-swappable CBEs in telecommunication and other industrial applications.
