XF2 Series FPC Connectors with SnPb Plating will be Discontinued March 31, 2006; Use Pb-Free Models Instead

To comply with RoHS directives, Omron will discontinue manufacturing FPC Connectors with SnPb (tin-lead) plating on March 31, 2006. Replacement models that use RoHS-compliant materials are already available. Work with prospects and customers to migrate to models with Sn- or Au-plated contacts from models with SnPb-plated contacts. Since there are changes in ratings and performance, please confirm the product specifications meet customer's requirements:

 

Suggested Replacement Parts

As a replacement to the previous versions of the G6D, Omron has introduced the G6D-ASI, which utilizes Silver Tin Indium (AgSnIn) as the contact material. While this change allows Omron to maintain the standard 2 Amp ratings, the number of operations for the product's 5 Amp ratings will be slightly reduced, as shown in the following chart.

 

 

XF2H FPC Connectors will be Discontinued March 31, 2006; Replaced by XF2M Series

The XF2H series FPC connectors will be discontinued March 31, 2006 for two key reasons: 1. They have solder tinned (PbSn) leads that do not comply with RoHS directives 2. The nylon resin body does not withstand the higher temperatures of Pb-free soldering processes. Use the XF2M series to replace them. Please confirm your customers' specifications, as there are critical differences between XF2H and XF2M series in dimensions and FPC insertion point.
