The restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) in electrical and electronic equipment is regulated by Directive 2002/95/EC issued January 27, 2003, by the European Parliament and Council. This directive will become effective July 1st 2006 and impacts all suppliers in the electrical and electronic markets and industries.

 

The following substances are covered by this directive and will be controlled at first by establishing maximum concentration limits and then ultimately eliminated.

 

 

The substances listed above must be replaced or reduced to the maximum concentration limits stated above by July 1st, 2006. A product is defined as RoHS compliant if the lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, Polybrominated Diphenyl ethers (PBDE) and polybrominated biphenyls (PBS) content in the homogenous materials of the products does not exceed the concentration limits stated above.

All products produced after the effective compliance date will be marked Suffix "R" at the end of the Date Code - i.e. 0527R and will have the statement: "RoHS Compliant" on the bar coded shipping label.
